ABOUT TIM

Tim competed in his first triathlon in 1985 at Nepean and did his first Ironman in 1988 in a time of 10hrs 38min qualifying for Hawaii on his first attempt. In 1990 Tim again ventured to Forster finishing 5th in 9hrs 9min. His improvement occurred through training smarter which Tim has continued to refine throughout his career, whether as an athlete or a coach. Tim was able to achieve these improvements whilst holding down a 40hr a week job. Tim found that not only streamlining his training, but training smarter, was a winning formula. In 1991 Tim’s improvement continued with a 4th place at Ironman Australia in 8hrs 43min with his run off the bike strength showing, with a 2hrs 55min marathon to finish the day.

In 1992, whilst continuing to hold down a full time job and utilising his train smarter principles, Tim continued to improve his Ironman time, placing third in Australia in 8hrs 33min running a lightening quick 2hrs 46min Ironman marathon. Backing up only 8 weeks later in Japan, Tim completed Ironman Japan, placing 6th in 8hrs 43 min. Between 1992 and 1996 Tim devoted more time to work and family retiring in 1997 having won 2 Australian Ironman titles, several State titles and a 6th place in the Ironman World Series in 1992.

Tim now devotes his time between his family, working in the bike industry and Coaching through A’hern Performance Training.
